CarDependability.com (the “Site”) is operated by MotoWords LLC. We respect intellectual property rights and expect our users to do the same. This policy explains how to report claimed copyright infringement under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), and how we handle our own content.
Our content
The CarDependability Index (CDi), its scores, grades, rankings, and methodology, along with our articles, graphics, and the selection and arrangement of our data, are the property of MotoWords LLC or its licensors. Use of our content is governed by our Terms & Conditions. If you believe your work has been used on our Site without authorization, use the notice process below.
Reporting claimed infringement (takedown notice)
If you are a copyright owner, or authorized to act on one’s behalf, and believe material on the Site infringes your copyright, send a written notice to our designated contact at hello@cardependability.com with the subject line “DMCA Notice.” To be effective under 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3), your notice must include:
- Your physical or electronic signature;
- Identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed;
- Identification of the material you claim is infringing, with enough detail (such as the URL) for us to locate it;
- Your name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address;
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and
- A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner’s behalf.
Upon receiving a valid notice, we will remove or disable access to the material in question and, where appropriate, notify the person who posted it.
The vehicle brochures on CarDependability may be the copyrighted property of their respective manufacturers, and we claim no ownership of them. They are offered as historical reference for people researching used vehicles, preserving original specifications and information that is often no longer available elsewhere, a use we believe is consistent with fair use, though we make no legal representation to that effect. CarDependability is independent and not affiliated with any manufacturer. If you are a rights holder and would like material removed, please use the takedown procedure on this page and we will remove it promptly.
Counter-notice
If you believe material of yours was removed in error or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice to hello@cardependability.com. To be effective under 17 U.S.C. § 512(g), it must include:
- Your physical or electronic signature;
- Identification of the material that was removed and the location where it appeared before removal;
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification; and
- Your name, address, and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your district (or, if outside the United States, any district in which we may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the complaining party.
Repeat infringers
In appropriate circumstances, we will disable access for, or terminate the accounts of, users who are repeat infringers.
Protecting our own copyright
If you find CarDependability content — including CDi scores, rankings, articles, or graphics — reproduced elsewhere without permission or beyond what our Terms allow, please let us know at hello@cardependability.com. We actively protect our original content and the CarDependability Index, and we will pursue removal of infringing copies, including through DMCA notices to the hosting platform or search engines.
